About

Experience matters. So does how we use it.

I’m Lana Schneidt, LMHC, QS, CAP, a mental health counselor in private practice in Tampa. I’ve spent much of my career studying how people change—and how to translate that understanding into therapy that is practical, structured, and useful in real life.

My clinical training has included intensive study of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma treatment and Prolonged Exposure, mindfulness, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. I’ve trained with leaders in the field, including Marsha Linehan, Melanie Harned, Charlie Swenson, Kelly Koerner, Cedar Koons, and Linda Dimeff, among others.

I also train and supervise other mental health professionals and regularly teach clinicians, counseling students, psychiatry residents, and community groups about DBT, emotional regulation, trauma treatment, and clinical practice.

My approach is informed by extensive training and experience, but therapy is not about applying a formula. I pay attention to what is happening in front of us, explain my thinking, and adjust the work when something isn't helping.

Values in practice

What you can expect from me

Transparency

You'll know what approach we're using, why, and what we expect it to change.

No shame about substances

Use is treated as behavior with function, not moral failure. Your goals set the direction.

Skills you keep

The aim is competence you take with you, not indefinite reliance on sessions.

Honest fit conversations

If another clinician or level of care would serve you better, I'll tell you early.

Cultural humility

Your context, identity, and community shape what change is possible and what it should look like.

Measured progress

We track whether things are actually improving and adjust when they aren't.
